Raúl San José Estépar
Raúl is Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and a Research Associate at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is the co-director of the Applied Chest Imaging Laboratory (ACIL).
His research interests are focused on medical applications of quantitative imaging to develop novel biomarkers of lung disease, primarily in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Prior areas of interest area in Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) and image registered sytems for laparoscopic (IRLUS) and endoscopic (IRGUS) interventions guided by ultrasound and its application to Natural Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES).  His image analysis interest includes the local image structure estimation using tensors analysis, image segmentation, and image registration.
He received his M.Sc and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Valladolid, Spain, in 1999 and 2005, respectively.  Raúl is also an affiliated member of the Laboratory of Mathematics in imaging (LMI) , and Surgical Planning Laboratory (SPL) , CIMIT Image Guidance Laboratory (CIGL) and the Image Processing Laboratory (LPI).
